A Vacation Rental.....

Glenwood is located in West-Central Minnesota in the heart of lake country. It is approximately 120 miles northwest of the Twin Cities and 100 miles southeast of Fargo. It is just 13 miles south of I-94 from Alexandria. Glenwood is a wonderful, family vacation town. Our home, The Hermitage, is located approximately two miles west of Glenwood on the quiet Long Beach road.

The House

The Hermitage is a lovely, old home that has been in our family since my grandparents built it in 1920, with rocks from the lake. We have renovated it for summer vacationing families. It is on 75 feet of lakefront with a private dock and boatlift.

The Lake

Lake Minnewaska is the 13th largest of Minnesota's 10,000 lakes. It's basin was carved out by glaciers thousands of years ago. As well as being known for it's beauty, it is also a prime vacation spot for boaters and fishermen. The lake, with its 24-mile circumference, has some of the smoothest and warmest water for water-skiing that you will ever experience!! We always marvel at the wide-open water with no boat traffic!!

Features & Amenities

Beautifully decorated home with four bedrooms and two baths sleeps twelve people. Three air conditioners. Six cable TV with VCR/DVD and large video library, stereo CD player, electric keyboard, and Nintendo. Well furnished kitchen with cherry cabinets, ceramic tile floor, and dishwasher. Dining table seats 10-12 people. Washer/dryer and laundry supplies. Linens, bath towels, and beach towels. Three decks with two gas grills-one lakeside, one overlooking beautiful Lake Minnewaska, and one facing charming Shallow Pond. Three 15-speed bikes and a tandem bike. Private dock with swim ladder, fishing bench, sunbathing platform, and boat lift!

Activities & Attractions

Swimming, water skiing, sailing, fishing, golf, tennis, biking, hiking, roller-blading, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, and ice skating. Morning Glory Gardens, Princess Minnewaska Burial Grounds, Mount Lookout, Glacial Lakes State Park, Terrace Mill, the Pope County Historical Museum. Memory Mercantile Antiques in Lowry and the International Art Gallery and Antiques located next door to us.

Take in our Waterama Celebration the last weekend of July, the Pope County Fair in August, and the Serrin Game Farm (my parents) featuring elk, buffalo, and waterfowl.

The boat launch is only one mile down the road and the public swimming beach is two miles. Fishing boats, pontoon boats, and paddleboats may be rented within a few blocks. Jet skis are also available in the area.

Torgy's On the Lake is a "happening" restaurant and lounge that is just two blocks down the road. They typically have live music several nights a week. Tie up your boat and enjoy a meal or drink on their lakeside patio.
